Hi

Ive just loaded WIN98SE and then installed a
Cable Modem (Terayo ?) for the nTL cable internet.

When I reboot it often will freeze very near to the end
and just leave a frozen eggtimer seconds before it has fully
booted. Also, while I watch it going through the boot process

I notice some words at the top left of the black screen
which I have'nt ever seen before on windows saying simply
"Label not found" ,thats just before it continues on to freeze.

Sometimes it boots ok, but maybe 7 out of 10 it freezes. If I disconnect
the usb modem connection it will reboot ok, but that maybe
coincidence. Any ideas ?.

Thanks

Franks

Sounds like driver problems to me, check your usb drivers.

what the words "Label not found" mean ???

The "label not found" message is due to a problem with one of your command line scripts that runs on startup. Have you tried uninstalling the modem and looking for this message again (i'm assuming the error appearing is coincidental with your getting the new modem). You may need to have a root around in your config.sys file if you are confident in doing so and make sure all is in order.
