just curious if anyone knows what kind of media plays well on ps2. i made a dvd-r on a silver and it plays just fine on my apex, however it wont play at all on my ps2. i used all caps to name the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders so thats not the problem. does volume label make a difference?
btw, i have a version 3 NTSC machine.
thanks

You have to Author DVD movies with UDF 1.5 to play on a PS2 I believe - might be 1.02, but its one or the other. Also there's a bunch of DVDs that just don't work with the PS2.

how did u do this?
do you mean you copied a dvd film/dvd silver to a dvdr?
anyway when you copy a dvd to dvdr (check out the copy guide from "dvdsilvers1" you have to have the ts folder/s in the root directory otherwise it will not work.

always use the 1.02 option for your backups (correct me if I am wrong), these will work in a ps2 if done correctly (follow the guide).
soundgardin you really need to read more posts :)

i ripped the dvd with smartripper and then burned it with prassi primodvd. i dont remember seeing a udf setting and followed the instructions i had precisely. by silver, i meant i had a generic dvd-r and when i bought it they asked if i wanted gold or silver. so i assumed it was referred to as a silver dvd-r since its not a name brand media, but im not sure. i guess i should have said generic.
both my AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS were in the root directory. as i said it worked fine in all my other players, just not my ps2.
i'll look into the UDF settings when i get home and see if i had it set right.
thanks for the info

I use UDF 1.5 and they play fine, so I'm not too sure how much difference this setting makes. I'm sure peeps have had different experiences but this works well for me.
Work in standalone, ps2 and In my PC.
I use the tools/tutorial found on scorpianuk's website, so thanks go to him
