Ok this is pretty weird,

once i turn my computer on I'm fine,

I'll connect to the internet and enjoy some time surfing. Then I'll disconnect and go about my business. When i reconnet to the internet my whole computer is slowed down.

anyone know whats going on?

hi there not to sure if it might be a trojan or not
but have you used the cleaner software to see or run any
virus protector.
if u can give more details on the pc and modem people might
be able to help etc.
have u clean your old history folder in windows at all
as remember when u delete something
its all ways there in windows

Couple of things you could try.

After you have disconnected from the net, press ctrl, alt & del, to see what processes are running - if there are any that still relate to your dial up connection (rnapp etc) - kill them, do a bit and then reconnect. If your connection is still narly then disconnect, reboot and try again - if it's ok this time, then there may be a problem with some program not releasing ram back to the memory pool. You willl have to do a bit of trial and error to see which proggy it is.

Hope this helps:tup:
