More on XBOX Modchips

We recently recieved a note about an XBOX modchip known as the ENIGMAH-X chip.

This chip is completed and will alow you to play imports, backups and even removes macrovision protection. DVD multiregion is not available from anyone yet.

To compare this to the other chips.

NEO-X will play imports only (still in production) Est. 12 wires
X-TENDER will play imports and backups (in production) Est 31 wires
ENIGMAH-X will play imports and backups and remove macrovision (complete) 30 wires

We have no word on when the chips will be out or pricing but keep reading and any updates we have, will be posted here.

Hopefully competition will drive prices down...but of course demand is so completely high, they may not need to.

dcsurfer,

I agree with you... I would definitely like to buy my chip from Neo Team. Quality all the time and great support. However, with all the "legal issues" that NeoTech's facing, how will they be able to put out a chip that plays backups? Merely stating that it is intended for playing "imports only" does not protect them (I think...any lawyers in here? :-) Or maybe Raptor can release it under another name and just let everybody know (one way or another) who he "recommends" we should get it from. I dunno...just brainstorming a bit.

I don`t quite see the problem :D It is "legal" to play backups isn`t it?

well since neox is dead...we're dependent on the messiahx and xtenderx....

i, personally, am going to wait for the chip that'll play divx/svcd/vcd/etc....i really can wait on the backups...unless they announce some sort of chip w/ an upgrade to add features :)

great news for all of us xbox fanz!...soo much in such little time! too much to handle!

Once the box is chipped bedroom developers are free to write their own mp3/divX/vcd players as happened on the Dreamcast. you won't see a chip that will do it for you.
