Ok, I read the FAQ and so far there is no bootdisk but does anyone think it's possible that we will see one? I like the idea of playing backups on my Xbox but I don't like the idea of having it modded and will probably be missing out if a boot disk doesn't come out.

It is not as likely for this system as others in the past....I think Microsoft learned from everybody else's blunders!

Look how long it took for the PSX boot disk to come out. The PS2 doesn't have a boot disk. The Consoles today are too advanced for everything to be done with 1 CD/DVD. Im sure Microsoft took the time to make sure the X-box would be hard to crack, and not 1 disk would do the job.

It may be a thing like that of the PS2 but who knows right now. It is a work in progress but again we have all the time in the world at this point. I'm sure some time down the road it will come to pass, unless MS is on their toes and never lets it happen... they have alot to lose, so we will see... :cool:

But again just about every system in the past has been hacked...

it could be possible as the main protection is in the digital data signing.
if we could figure out how to crack this then one day maybey selfbooters could be possible

I know there's a boot disc (2.0) for the X-Box floating around on some of these P2P file sharing networks, but I dont have an X-Box, but the way its looking, i'll have one shortly once these chips leak out into the US. But there is a boot disc out there and there's games (rar files) already out there as well.

Yes u are right lol, but people said that Xbox will not be able to crack or will take a long time & look now. So i think soon it will maybe one get developed as then we dont have to worry about chipping our xboxes :clown:

what about some kind of disk swop or the knife trick in conjuction with action replay?
i still use that methord on my ps2, i mean i havent got a chipped ps2 and yet i can play ps2 dvdr copys and cdr copys fine....so im thinking ok now that there are xbox copys out there there will always be another way to play them without the mod chip, maybe some kind of disk swop or a boot disk will amerge?? ...within 6months, thats what im hopeing, im fuc#ed if im gonna get my xbox chipped, im not letting anyone fu#k with my machine!!!

as the situation stands there is no bootdisk for the xbox. There are several circulating IRC and various places such as Boot_Disk_2.0_WORKING_XBOX-ProjectX. None of these work, and I wouldn't be surprised if they are trojan servers or some such.

I'm not too sure about the technical side of things, but I think that the reason the xbox can't boot copies directly without the mod is something to do with a signed code on the originals which can't easily be copied to DVDRs.

However, I'm sure that eventually we will see Enigmah or Xtender or someone work a way around this and we will see boot disks. However, I'm still getting my Enigmah chip :)

By the time a boot disk comes about there will be XBox 2 you will get people saying I saved my guarantee by waiting. People who fit these chips are in most cases professionals and usually can repair most faults on these consoles due to the large stock of 'spares' they have when they were starting. I like the fact you don't need a boot disk period!
