But as Bleem has closed, and it's very dificult to buy BC, how do i make a backup? Thanks, you cant, there is noone who has been able to bypass the copy protection chubbito Jan 22, 2002, 11:22 AM do you think that if someone could actually get around the protection, or maybe even if Bleem! made the source public, that it would be a lot of work to get other games to work? I know it's probably just dreaming, but it would be awesome to play castlevania : sotn or FF 7, 8, or 9 on my DC.. yourfather Oct 15, 2004, 06:31 PM If someone could find a way to make the bleemcast discs recognize more psx games that would be really great, I'm just taking a wild guess here but could it be possible to "trick" the Gran Turismo/MGS/Tekken bleemcast discs to load another burned psx game, by changing/patching some files in the game itself?? NightCrawler Oct 15, 2004, 10:54 PM There's a generic Bleemcast beta floating around. There are also lots of fakes, so be careful what you get. If you can't find the real one, post your email address here and I'll point you to it. Someone also released several PS1 games with the generic Bleemcast built-in so you could have a self-booting enhanced PS1 title on dreamcast. It was all discussed about a year ago. I think there's also a link in this thread to a really good site that lists compatibility issues with a ton of PS1 games. (if it's still there) http://www.cdrom-guide.com/forums/showthread.php?t=238761 There was never any way to backup the real Bleemcast releases, but if someone sat down and compared the generic and retail releases they could probably find a way to copy them now. yourfather Oct 17, 2004, 05:49 AM ok, I've got both versions, the leaked bleemcast beta (which boots up many games but is slow, buggy, and has problems with fmv) and the original Gran Turismo 2 retail Bleemcast Disc (works perfectly with Gran Turimso 2 but its the only game it will boot up). I also have the Original Metal Gear Solid retail Bleemcast Disc. Now, I have no knowledge about programming but maybe this could help someone who has the know-how.. This is what ISO Buster reports: Leaked Bleemcast Beta: 2 Sessions -- 1st Session -- Track 1 LBA=0 Size=689.06KB Size=705600Bytes -- 2nd Session -- Track 2 ISO CDROM Name LBA Size KB Size Bytes 1BLEEM.BIN 11724 311.25 318720 Original Bleemcast Gran Turismo 2 Retail 2 Sessions -- 1st Session -- Track 1 LBA=0 Size=693.66.06KB Size=710304Bytes -- 2nd Session -- Track 2 ISO Name LBA Size KB Size Bytes (no name) 11724 88.78 90906 bleem4DC.ini 11723 0.50 512 ------------------------------------------------------------------- This what the bleem4DC.ini file has : ---------------------------------------- VERSION=DC DEBUG=0 AUTH=1 [TITLES] ID=SCUS94455 Title=GT2 U/C A1 Flags=84F03001H ID=SCUS94455 Title=GT2 U/C A2 Flags=80F03001H ID=SCUS94488 Title=GT2 U/C S1 Flags=81F03001H ID=SCUS94488 Title=GT2 U/C S2 Flags=82F03001H ID=SCUS94488 Title=GT2 U/C S3 Flags=80F03001H ID=SCPS45457 Title=GT2 J A Flags=80F03001H ID=SCPS45458 Title=GT2 J S Flags=80F03001H ID=SCES02380 Title=GT2 PAL A Flags=80E03001H ID=SCES12380 Title=GT2 PAL S Flags=80E03001H -------------------------------------- I think maybe bleemcast checks your game, and see if it matches any of these ID/Title/Flags, to see if you are trying to run Gran Turismo 2, second it tries to determine which version of the game u have PAL/NTSC. (this is just speculation on my part) Now regarding the file without a name, this is where it gets interesting, ISO Buster can "see" it, and reports a file size of 88.78 kb, however it is unable to extract this particular file, this is the first time I've encountered such situation with ISO Buster, windows explorer (win98se) can also "see" the file however the size appears as 0 bytes, the created, modified & last accessed fields appear as "unknown" in the properties tab, if u try to open the file with Hex workshop/(insert app here) u get an error saying the system cannot find the file. There's also a folder with no name which has the same problem, you cant' open it, if you double click on it nothing happens. Now let's take a look at the Metal Gear Solids Disc: Original Bleemcast Metal Gear Solid 2 Sessions -- 1st Session -- Track 1 LBA=0 Size=693.66.06KB Size=710304Bytes -- 2nd Session -- Track 2 ISO Name LBA Size KB Size Bytes (no name) 11724 87.65 89754 bleem4DC.ini 11723 1.38 1413 This is what the bleem4DC.ini has: VERSION=DC REVISION=1.1A DEBUG=0 VALID=3,2,-5,2,5,2 ;DEBUG=7 ;AUTH=1 [TITLES] ID=SLUS00594 Title=MGS U/C A1 Flags=80F03001H ID=SLUS00776 Title=MGS U/C A2 Flags=A0F03001H ID=SLUS00594 Title=MGS U/C B1 Flags=80F03101H ID=SLUS00776 Title=MGS U/C B2 Flags=A0F03101H ID=SLUS00594 Title=MGS U/C G1 Flags=80F03101H ID=SLUS00776 Title=MGS U/C G2 Flags=A0F03101H ID=SLPM86111 Title=MGS J A1 Flags=80F03001H ID=SLPM86112 Title=MGS J A2 Flags=A0F03001H ID=SLPM86114 Title=MGS J B1 Flags=80F03101H ID=SLPM86115 Title=MGS J B2 Flags=A0F03101H ID=SCPS45412 Title=MGS J C1 Flags=80F03101H ID=SCPS45413 Title=MGS J C2 Flags=A0F03101H ID=SLPM86485 Title=MGS J I1 Flags=80F03101H ID=SLPM86486 Title=MGS J I2 Flags=A0F03101H ID=SLPM86470 Title=MGS J K1 Flags=80F03101H ID=SLPM86471 Title=MGS J K2 Flags=A0F03101H ID=SLES01370 Title=MGS PAL A1 Flags=80E03001H ID=SLES11370 Title=MGS PAL A2 Flags=A0E03001H ID=SLES01506 Title=MGS PAL F1 Flags=80E03101H ID=SLES11506 Title=MGS PAL F2 Flags=A0E03101H ID=SLES01507 Title=MGS PAL D1 Flags=80E03101H ID=SLES11507 Title=MGS PAL D2 Flags=A0E03101H ID=SLES01508 Title=MGS PAL I1 Flags=80E03001H ID=SLES11508 Title=MGS PAL I2 Flags=A0E03001H ID=SLES01734 Title=MGS PAL S1 Flags=80E03001H ID=SLES11734 Title=MGS PAL S2 Flags=A0E03001H ----------------------------------------- It looks pretty similar to the one from Gran Turismo, and as expected the file & folder without a name cannot be accesed or copied. To sum this up, the retail discs have a bleem4DC.ini file which is missing in the leaked Beta, which in turn has a 311kb 1bleem.BIN file which "apparently" is not in the retail discs, however both of them (GT2 & MGS) have a file with no name with a size of approx. 90 kb, which apparently cannot be accesed by normal means on a PC, my only guess on the reduction of file sizes is that they scrapped the code for emulating the rest of the psx games, and just left what was necessary for "optimal emulation" of a specific game (Again this is just speculation) Maybe this is part of the copy protection scheme the Retail Bleemcast Discs have, all my attempts to read/access these files with ISO Buster/Windows/Ms-Dos have failed, could there be another program able to handle them properly?? Maybe trying to read them from another OS Linux/Mac ?? Or somehow have the Dreamcast itself access them via a custom file manager/bootup disc created for this purpose & then transfer the files to a normal PC for further analysis..??? Any ideas?? Finally, I checked the thread you kindly brought up to my attention and the website at http://bleemcast.no-ip.com/ appears to be unreachable, and the isonewz site has been taken over by a cheap search engine. All I can think of now.... is....... "If it's done by men.....it can be undone by men" Feel free to flame on........... hrb2k Oct 19, 2004, 01:19 AM interesting..!!! never seen those files or heard of this info anywhere. seems as if no one whats to take on the challenge of cracking this and echelon moved on to PS2 scene. maybe there is a hidden TOC..?? can you extract the beginning of the data track at all?? yourfather Oct 19, 2004, 04:56 AM I've been trying to extract the 2nd Session, ISO buster starts just fine and when it gets to around 5% it hangs a bit and later gives me the following error: ------------------------------ Unreadable Sector Sector 15070 couldn't be read Error: 03/02/01 Then I'm given the choice of wether: Ommit Sector Replace with al zeroes Replace with user data all zeroes Replace with erroneous sector ------------------------------- I was about to choose the last option, when accidentally I moved ISO Buster's error dialog window, to my surprise the main ISO Buster windows now showed Session 2 which has Track 2 at LBA 11702 with a size of 127.55 MB (133,744,640 Bytes) !!!! So I proceeded and chose the last option, about a minute later I got the same error but now with a 15701 sector, then 15702, 15703, at this point I checked the always apply this options, so the program could manage this automatically, it's been running for a while now, the drive is still working and I'm really tired, I'm gonna leave the computer on and get some sleep, cause I'm starting to collapse on my desk...... :hdspin: I'll report the results in a few hours............. hrb2k Oct 19, 2004, 12:49 PM thats great! at least you found the real size. something else you can do is make a cdi image of the cd using DJ. then cdirip it, then isofix it. you should get the real toc if it was hidden. yourfather Oct 20, 2004, 03:28 PM I left ISO Buster trying to extract the contents of the CD, yesterday it was about 22% complete, today its about 50% complete I'll leave the computer on until it finishes and see what happens, I just hope my cd-rom drive survives this........ hrb2k Oct 20, 2004, 11:37 PM *crosses fingers yourfather Oct 22, 2004, 08:11 AM I'm sorry for the delay...unfortunately I have bad news..... :( ISO buster only managed to copy around 62 megs of data then it couldn't go any further......at least my cd-rom survived this stressful test. Any ideas? hrb2k Oct 22, 2004, 01:04 PM ah, too bad. :( can DJ make a CDI imade of it? prolly not since isobuster couldnt rip it. sipix Dec 16, 2004, 12:09 AM Can you get The World Is Not Enough to work on yonder dc? I really want it! :bawling: sipix Dec 16, 2004, 12:15 AM Ive also got 3 different files that it wants me to copy to cd for it to work on my dreamcast: :madhack: bleemdc IMG file 797,825 KB - problem here! 97,825 KB to big! bleemdc.sub SUB file 32,565 KB - Do I really need this? bleemdc.ccd CCD file 2 KB - ? My friend got them for me off Kazaa, ive compressed them, but it says the total size on disc is something like 144 MB but thats 750 MB smaller than the files actually are! It wont let me copy these files. How can I compress them to under 700 MB? :bawling: I need TWINE!!! (the world is not enough) :luxhello: :luxhello: sipix Jan 01, 2005, 06:49 AM you cant, there is noone who has been able to bypass the copy protection Until Now!
