I'm trying to install a slave IDE drive to my PC, (actually I tried this a few months ago and therefore don't have the manufacturer/model details handy). I remember going to the manufacturer's website but had no joy in obtaining the jumper settings to switch it to slave.

Does anyone know if there is a website that has jumper settings for a wide variety of hard drives?

Thanks

Usually removal of jumper makes your IDE HDD as a slave device.

You should tell the make/model of your HD to save guesswork.

I agree with Van. If you let us know the make and model of your HD someone here is bound to know the answer to your question.

It should say on the harddrive somewhere.

If not then you could always guess. I once had a harddrive that didn't say where the jumper went and I just guessed and after a few atempts got it to work.
