this xbox keeps freezing games, halo, doa3, project gotham, etc, after playing it for a few minutes the xbox screens says the disc is scratched and i have to restart the game and play, is it the lens?

Try returns it and get a new one.

box is messed up/no receipt, but im gonna prolly just do a store swap..

the xbox can scratch games..maybe just the early machines has this problem...but your discs could be so scratched that the xbox can't read them properly...hence the message!

had the same problem with my first x-box,i took it back and got another one..around 1% of the first x-box's sent were defective..you are probably part of that 1%

korn pretty much summed it up :D...there was definitely a bad batch of these produced...your best bet is to just get another one...

you got no reciept right then did you register your xbox as you could phone up microsoft and see if you can get an exchange

Steps:

1.Buy another one.
2.Put meesed up one in the box.
3.Next day return the messed up one in box.
4.Get your money back to buy a new one or exchange it for a new one there!

no the games arent scratched and the xbox isnt scratching them, if this cd lens cleaner thing i ordered doesnt work ill just do do store swap, do i need to replace the serial code on the bottom like in the ps2? the part they scan?

hi m8 yes you will have to replace the serial code on the machine
as they will check that with the box
it works by using lighter fluid and it comes of very easy no problem
at all but only use a little bit on a cotton bud

the xbox you have got needs to go back for sure
some of the retailers dont look after there stock and all so sometime
stock from microsoft does get knocked around a bit

but please remember the xbox there is only a few thousand
gone back
not like the psx2 with there big problems

Or a hairdrier will get the stickers off...
