could someone plese tell me what is the diffrence
DVD-R (GENRAL)
DVD-R (Authoriting)
and which is the best Disc to use for
Say Backing up a PS2 Game or DVD Movie and just
storing data!!!!!
could you plese give a link to
somewhere or something like that !!!

Not entirely sure about the difference but I have been using GENERAL for some time for both PS2 game backup and movies and have had no caosters and no problems :tup:

If you have a general use drive, then you have to use general use media. The Pioneer A03/103 and A04/104 are both general use drives.

also the DVD-R (Authoriting) disc and drive may also enable you to make a direct copy on the fly of a copy protected disc apposed to a dvd-general drive were you would have to rip the disc first to remove the copy protection. (just a thought i'm no expert)

Yep, The early writers from Pioneer - home and PC only used Authoring discs, very expensive but they allowed certain "other" functions on the discs...
General use has taken over now - DVDr is the format of choice on all platforms with DVDRAM the best option for the home VCR style recorders - Panasonic DMRE20 for example.
The Panny also writes DVDr so you get the best of both worlds..
DVDRAM allows timeshifting functions like a TIVO machine.
