Are these available yet??
If not when can we expect them and how much you reckon they will be?
Could the existing DVD-RW drives be upgraded via firmware to write these?

DVD 9 is 2 discs pressed together , these cannot be burnt , they have to be pressed together with a large machine so I doubt you'll ever see a DVD 9 burner.

you can get double sided dvd-r (4.7gb each side ) that should work with rw drives.
seen them at computer fairs, not tried them tho.

Well DVD9 is known as single-sided dual layer.. so I assumed this is what was meant - these cant be burnt.
Yes double-sided disks will work as they are 2 4.7gb disks stuck together but they arent known as DVD9.

DVD5 = Single Sided, Single Layer
DVD9 = Single Sided, Dual Layer
DVD10 = Double Sided, Single Layer
DVD18 = Double Sided, Dual Layer
