OK so i spoke to neo-x and xtender dudes today and was given a personal demo of both machines booting backup games on all types of media...
x-tender....they had an x-box in bits with an installed chip on the board so you could see the product in situ....it was the same board that was posted earlier....the install looked neat and tidy and ddin't look too difficult if you know your way round an iron...30 wire install....the x-tender geezers were more than happy for me to prod the machine a little to check for any "iffy" stuff behind the scenes..the mod worked fine for booting the two different back ups he showed me...but i did notice that there was a tray eject problem...the guy swerved the issue a little when asked saying the x-box didnt like being apart....hmmm the tray seemed to have a mind of it's own on occasion and was shooting half out then back in again and took a while to get the disks out lol./..this could have been un connected with the chip and a fault elsewhere though......personally if i was demo-ing a chip i would of made sure the ****ing console functioned correctly first lol....
neo-x/enigmah the storm troopers and morph were in full effect with there demo of there x-box chip....i was showed a copy of halo booting and then was asked to give a dvd-r cheapo disk a good working over with my shoe
the disk looked well shagged..scratched to **** and unplayable almost in it went after taking off the excess dust and it played!!!!! they then went on to show disk after disk booting...dvd-r cd-r the whole works NTSC originals booting on pal console backups the lot.....it even booted the crappest looking cd-r silvers i ever seen lol...so blanks ain't gonna be as big a feature of back-ups as they are in ps2 games...the lasers on these things seem superb with the neo/enigmah chip installed...also high speed cd-r burning didn't seem to have much effect either...the spiderman demo played thru smoothly with no hiccups at all despite the crap condition of the disk......
Both parties said they would be selling to the public next saturday with Neo being top dog again on pricing..... the extender chip's price was set as £65 with the enigmah set to sell at £45
So the race is on..................Neo won the first round with the news....who will get to the public first????
My money is on the neo camp personally...i know there are some xtender prototypes going around but i think neo have the edge when it comes to manufacturing chips fast...
i know for a fact there will be NO chips publically available till at least thursday...so beware any bullshitters....i have spoken with the manufacturers of both chips personally and thats there words not mine...
In short...both chips work....the x-box is cracked now wheres that pile of cheap dvd-r's
