like me your only options would appear to either sit back and grow old waiting for bt to upgrade your exchange or look at a satellite connection. Seemingly there are two types one which is on all the time and very fast but expensive (aimed more at businesses) or the other where you have a satellite connection over and above your existing isp (like a super charger on a car). This is cheaper £30 month ish but you are limited to how much you can download per month. I think it was in the region of 2 gb on the package i was looking at.

seems as though us country folk are being penalised? do i sound bitter? good!!

if you want any more info let me know

Too true liam007, the one sad downside that us country folk have to face up to. :(

I know BT are about to start some broadband Sat trials very soon, but all the BT people I spoke to when I phoned up knew nothing about this. Sat broadband of course is only going to be a viable option if a) It's a reasonable price. And b) There is no download limit either. Crikey...2Gb???? I'd get through my allowance within a few hours, never mind a month!

thanks for your replies guys, I've heard a bit about sat connections but everyone I've looked at was really expensive, well £50 a month plus your ISP, i guess I'll just have to wait.

I have moved to the country m8 and got my dad to buy ISDN. I can get 128k or 64k but then again this is expensive for what it is. if you hear of any broadband companys activating exchanges in any part of the country could you please let me know.

Also i heard that BT are activating 1,000 exchanges by the end of May.
