The Idiots at Schneider are going backwards with this thing,

First they stop the Macro hack, Now the VCD capability.

Perhaps they no longer want to Sell any players!!! They're going the right way about it!

chickenfeed
May 13, 2002, 06:24 PM
it could be they are under pressure because of the ease of the hacks etc
by trading standards or even asda who are trying to keep a squeaky clean image in this country, to run down sales and introduce new models with tighter restrictions, Its a shame cause they are decent machines for the price and compare well to more expensive dvd players

mmmm maybe so m8s very puzzling:eek:

I bought one last week and it plays everything ok

chickenfeed
May 14, 2002, 05:04 AM
it is the latest batch because my mates brother bought one three days before in the same store in Newcastle and his is fine

ragingdevil
May 14, 2002, 05:38 AM
hmm... I have seen my local Asda stores restock with loads of 750 models, plus theres now a higher model, 800 series with support for karaoke - looks like the Dansai 852 from Tesco.

I'm trying to get a refund for my one, as I'm tired of having to re-encode/fix some jumpy VCD/SVCD's. Its still a good player for the most part, but I'd rather have something that can play everything flawlessly. Looking for the Decca 2110 right now.

has your friend actually tried playing a vcd on his machine? cos I bought one yesterday for my in-laws (just greasing up to them) and it plays vcds and svcds no probs.

chickenfeed
May 14, 2002, 07:58 AM

w3dal
May 14, 2002, 08:00 AM
Thats a shame, cos if mine packs up then ill have to get a new player from somewhere else, cos i play SVCD's all the time.

That is a bit pants!!

im still running mine with no probs
so its all a bit wierd  but at least we can return em if the worse comes:D

ragingdevil
May 14, 2002, 08:46 AM
I asked Asda if I could get a refund for mine, so I could get another player. They told me the drive had to be faulty in order to get a refund (3 yr gaurentee thing). Looks like I'll have to bullsh!t a fault in order to get a refund in another Asda branch. Not a problem, I hope..

May 14, 2002, 09:17 AM

ragingdevil
May 14, 2002, 11:07 AM
Thanks macca56.

I found that site after searching Kelkoo.com. That was the only site that still has the Deccavideo 2110, but I don't know why they label it Deccacolour.

chickenfeed
May 14, 2002, 03:00 PM
i know that semtex
all i am trying to do is alert people to a problem if it didnt play vcd's he
would have took it back, but because it actualy tells you in the instructions that it wont play VCd's its not a machine fault its a change in spec

ragingdevil
May 15, 2002, 06:42 PM
bluemoon, do you know if they are going to update the 750 with some kind of bios upgrade or whatever to add new features, or is that no longer a priority anymore? I've had the player for 5 months now, not heard of any upgrade, plus Shneider have already released a higher model, and it looks very unlikely now.

bluemoonbaz
May 15, 2002, 07:07 PM

maybe as previously stated by blemoonbaz schneider are covering their own backs by putting this notice in the instructions, quite a few people have posted on this forum saying they bought a pacific 750 it wouldnt play one thing or another taken it back to asda and asked for their money back.
Which is the great thing about the pacific 750, you can easily take it back and get a replacement if needed.

If it has this statement in the instruction manual does this affect your rights to return the machine, just because it wont play vcd.s

just a thought

shame

chickenfeed
May 21, 2002, 08:37 AM
only problem now is, if you need to take the player back under the guarantee you could well end up with a player that wont play vcd's

theman27
May 21, 2002, 09:38 AM
right mine is going back on the weekend unless i can find some info on enabling the vcd function. just make up a reason for returning it, like skipping on some dvds that worked on other machines etc.
i doubt they will have replacements anyway, i know i got the last one at my local store, so i want a refund, or do they sell any others that r recommended?

bluemoonbaz
May 21, 2002, 02:28 PM
well m8s looks like it got 2 popular :D asda couldnt keep up with the demand but at least we can put everyone right now and at least they have finally admitted theve done it shame u didnt get in earlier :( :( looks like the dansi from tesco sales will benefit  btw u shouldnt have n e trouble returning them:gabby:

Hi Blue

do you have any problems with your pacific playing svcd's
have just got star wars 2 and the sound is quite jumpy
but picture is brilliant

w3dal
May 27, 2002, 07:13 AM
On some SVCD's the piccy is a little jumpy but hey its a bloody cheap player so what do u expect. Plays DVD's brillantly though.

Dal

ragingdevil
May 27, 2002, 08:32 AM
chickenfeed, to fix those jumpy SVCD's, you'll need to demultiplex (split) the video and audio from the mpg file with Tmpeg, and then multiplex (join) them back together again with BBmpeg, then reburn with Nero. It takes about 30 minutes or so to complete fixing a disc (copying to the hdd->demux->mux->Burn)

Get the programs from VCDHelp.com (http://www.vcdhelp.com).

You only get this problem with non-compliant VCD/SVCD movies. Most movies released by Centropy are non-compliant.

Hi,

Just watched The Gift on DVD and it was jumpy, reckon my Pacific is gonna have to go back. Anyone else had this problem on DVD's. Same DVD plays fine on my Tosh player.

I have a friend who has just bought the 750 on my recommend, he was soon on the phone to tell me it would not play anything. Took a big selection of disks to his house to prove him wrong & as he said it would not play anything. Went back to Asda with him & there was somebody else there with same problem.

Im taking mine back this week. Sony have just released some new players gonna spend a bit of cash and buy one of those. The Pacific is good but its not that good.
