Hey all.
Is BT broadband really any good?
A friend has got Telewest broadband and raves about its speed but I was told BT broadband isn't all that. Then someone else said it bives 512k download speeds.
At the moment, I have BT surftime.
Any help would be appreciated.

Well, if that is all that is available in your area, I would definitely get it. Compared to surftime, even if it was shyte, it was be many, many times faster. I believe that BT broadband is capped at 512kbps downloading and uploading is 256kbps, which is 64Kb/s and 32Kb/s respectively. However you will very likely never quite reach those speeds.

i have it and it is good i get usually around 60kb/s downloads and around 30kb/s for upload but i'm really close to my telephone exchange, if that makes a difference.

if it is available in your area then i would recommend you get it as it is much faster than 56k. if not then cable is your option

I also have BT ADSL and I can get about 55-60K/s download ans 25-30K/s upload. It's always fast and works great.

Thanx a lot people!
Much appreciated.
Will it just involve having a network card put into the Tower and away I go?
