howdy everyone,
in windows 98 you can type msconfig in the run box. i was wondering if there is an option for this in win 95? trying to stop things from booting on my parents computer and i was wondering if i can do this.

why don't u just try it on your parents' comp? i have a win95 at skool so i'll see if i can do it.

No there isn't an option similar to msconfig. The nearest thing would be to look in either the startup folder or use the registry editor. MSConfig is basically a gui version of the registry anyway so will perform the same function.

If you're not aux fait with the registry, goto start, run and type regedit.

From there click on the + by the side of the following to see all programs set to run at bootup.

Hkey Local Machine\Software\Windows\Current Version\Run or Runonce. In these keys you will probably see many different programs such as loadpowerprofile, systray, taskmanager etc which should be deleted really. There will be other programs which can be removed but best to back up the registry first before modifying. In the registry editor click on registry, export and then backup to floppy disk.
