Ok, so I've hammered my Creative PC-DVD Dxr2 over the last few weeks, but I didn't realise that I may have killed it :(

Basically, I burned a CD this morning no problem. Then I left another one burning (2x read) whilst I went to work. The copy didn't work, so I went to the PC to try it again.

Now the PC won't recognise ANY disk being inserted into the drive. When I put any disk in, I get the message, 'Please insert a disk into Drive F:' :(

Has the laser finally given up on it?

Quick replies appreciated - traders waiting ;)

I have the same problem when i insert my cd into the drive ...it happens to me constantly, the only way to get it working is to reboot and try again

Have you tried cleaning it out? You could try a cleaning disc and if that doesn't work, you could try a thorough cleaning. The instructions on how to do it are located HERE (http://www.geocities.com/liru67/clean/clean_your_cdr_w__part_1.html) compliments of Liru.
