I seem to have a load of temporary files in my windows folder they all start with the prefix xyz ie:
xyzC2C1.tmp
xyzD342.tmp

There are quite a few of them just did a virus scan with nav2002 and found I was infected with the start page trojan, have followed the instructions from symantecs site and deleted everything that was detected as the trojan, there was only 1 file detected which was sp.dll which I deleted it did not say anything about these temporary files though, are they something else?
All help appreciated, thanks in advance

Just delete all your temp files. The temp files are only there temporarly and you don't need them. If you are worried then put them into the recycle bin.

Temp files are lingering fragments of saved documents or files that are created and then abandoned when you install new programs.

Temp files left by setup programs may be misread by some setup programs, which could make software installations fail.

Also, some applications can't sift through a buildup of files in the temp folder and may be unable to locate, read, or write the temp files that they need.
