i have 2 computers and a second phone line. i would like to be able to have both online at once. right now if one is online the other one will not dial on. is there a way to connect both without getting networking cards and linking them together?

I assume, that what you are saying is that they are using different phone lines ? If not.... then
No, if they are using the same line, then only one can use the internet at a time, unless you network them together.

However if yes...
And that they are using the same dial-up account with your isp ?

If that is the case then it sounds like your isp is only allowing one connection to that account, so just use a different isp/account on the second machine using the second line.

I have to say though that networking the 2 machines is not expensive, 2 NIC cards at less than £10 each, and a corssover cable and your done !

Hope that helps, anything your not sure of, post back

thanks for the info. i just looked in the faq section and found that this question has already been asked before and there is some tutorials. i should have looked there first. they will be using the same phone line so your advice would be to network them together?

definately, i have done that here with my desktop and my laptop, and it works great, there are tutorials on connection sharing all over the web, just search on google.
