Whats better for Downloading, IRC or Newsgroups??

I want to back up some of my games, dvds, TV, music, etc. I was wondering what the best source for these are, is it IRC or NEWSGROUPS?

I know how to dl on irc but it can take a long time in queues, so i was wondering how easy is it to ose newsgroups and what newsgroup server is best?

Also, what kind of speeds can you expect to have on newsgroups using pipex?

Cheers

IRC is a lot better than newsgroups.

How do you download from IRC then (I have mirc)? The only thing I ever found in IRC was lists of ftp sites which always seem full.

jmrevill: sorry to jump on your thread, but its sort of related.

Yeah, thats what i mean, MIRC, thats what i use, first, go into a channel such as dvd rips or whatever and then type "!list". THis will list all of the servers in that channel and details on what they contain, how many sends and queues, etc. There should also be something called "trigger". Type whatever the trigger is and press enter. You should now be on that server. You know have to use commands such as ls (list), cd dir(change directory) or just type "help" to get a list of commands.

THere are probally easier ways but thats how i do it, but ive only done it for 1 week an dl a far bit so far.

Hope that helps you because i know how complictaed it can be.
