virtualdub error wmv1
I,m trying to convert a divx to mpeg and intended using virtualdub1.3 to extract the audio but when the file has just about loaded it says
error wmv1 unsupported.
Is there anything I can do e.g.
Is the divx not a true divx and need coverting.
Basically can this problem be resolved and if so what do I need.

It can't be divx if it is using windows media video.. as I assume that is what wmv stands for.. Did you say this was an AVI?

Properties says it's ASF.Lets say total size(the way vdub does it) is 96000 it'll get to 94000 then almost load then the error unsupported comes up.
I was told it was a divx.Unless there is like proctection patch or something
If it was a avi I would probably have run through geargui to convert must be protected or something although the disc is a backup.

If it is ASF then it is not DivX.. Try using ASF tools to convert it to an AVI.. Or TMPGEnc, but that would mean rencoding.

Thanks again celtic_druid.
I don't mind rencoding it'll give me chance to learn a bit more.

Just noticed you are trying to convert to mpeg, this means that you are going to have to rencode anyway..

TMPGEnc should be able to do straight ASF-->mpeg.
