DSL on the Laptop
I think this is where this is supposed to go!

I recently bought a used laptop (Compaq Presario 1200). I have DSL internet service. I noticed that the DSL router's yellow cable (which plugs into my desktop's ethernet hole) doesn't have a plug-in on the back of my new laptop. There is, however, a little square-shaped box. I looked on a newer laptop I also have (that no longer works) and it didn't have an ethernet hole like the desktop's either, but, it also had one of those square holes.

I'm sorry -- I'm the most computer dumb person alive! How am I supposed to get my DSL to hook up to my laptop?

your new laptop should have usb ports, then buy one of these

replace ****** with www.ebay or just goto ebay and search for usb ethernet adapter

ethernet usb adapter, just plug into usb port then plug your ethernet cable into it. it should work.

just remember these days, you have usb adapters for most things, and we all have to start somewhere in this computer age. don't be afraid to ask.
