vcd problem and an mp3 question

OK I know how to watch a vcd on computer, I just explore the disk find avseq01.dat or something similar, and drag it onto WMP playlist or click open with or whatever, I have done this countless times b4, however just got Blade II and it wont let me, says this format is not supported, and yet it works fine on the DVD player...the quality is better than usual could it have been done some other way inadvertently preventing me from playing it on my comp?

PS anyone know how to make all my MP3s the same sound level, Im fed up of turning up the speakers for a quiet song only to have my ears pop on the next song!

2)use a mp3 normalizer

Download a [url=***********.mpegx.com/video.asp?dcat=VideoPlayer]VCD player.

You can normalize your MP3s using an MP3 normalizer like [url=***********.geocities.com/mp3gain/]MP3Gain or use [url=www.dbpoweramp]dBPowerAMP which has a normalizer function. You can also use the [url=***********.winamp.com/skins/reviews.jhtml?rOT=C&rOI=1099]Rock Steady plug-in with WinAMP. It is not quite as good as using a normalizer, since it can't pre-process the file and determine peak volumes, but it will work well in most cases, and if you're playing from an MP3 CD, a normalizer can't be used.

OK thanks, but I'm still wondering why this one doesnt work all of a sudden

Are you sure that it is a VCD and not an SVCD??

fungusfeet Apr 04, 2002 08:32 AM

Hmmm that VCD player didnt work either.

I dont know anything about Svcd so not sure, but it comes up on XP as VideoCD, also has the same old folders....CDI, EXT, MPEGAV, SEGMENT, VCD

with dat file named AVSEQ01.dat in the MPEGAV folder.
