Distorted display on old Win95 game in WinXP
I'm trying to play my all-time favorite PC game, Crush! Deluxe, on a new PC running Windows XP. The game runs ok, but certain screens are filled with distorted colors that make the screen almost entiredly unreadable. I have tried changing the program compatibility settings in Windows XP (256 colors, 640x480, etc..) but none of them make a difference. The game crashes when trying to run in compatibility mode for Windows 95/98/Me. What else can I try to correct this problem? Has anyone had a similar problem with an older Windows game and were you able to fix it?

The compatibility mode is a joke. I've never seen it work well, for anything. If you want to run older programs/games, your best bet is to set-up a dual boot system...........just my 2 cents.......

Agree with nightheart, the Compatibility thing with XP is a joke, I've never had it run any of my old programs, so a easy soloution to this would be to partition your HDD and install windows 98 on the other partition.

I thought about that, but what if it turns out to be nothing more than a video card issue? (which is very possible since the game plays fine with the exception of some distorted video) Then I'd have a dual-boot system that still didn't allow me to play the game.

find a M8 running XP and see how it plays on their system. If thats the only game your having problems with, I'd say it's an XP issue myself.........

Having a dual boot, especially if you have the hard drive space is a pretty good idea, in my opinion. If something happens to one of your OS, you can use the other one, and still access files and such. When you need something in a hurry or off the 'net quick, a messed up OS can be a nightmare. This way you can still use you pc, while attempting to repair the messed up OS, just my 2 cents again...........also getting rid of a dual boot system isn't hard either, actually takes longer to set one up............

Old 95 game
Xp will not run any Fat16 game, simple as that. Your only option is as previously indicated, to partition and put Win9x on it.
