System Halted! [; ; winME]

Hi every1,
Need help badly, every time I boot my machine I have to scandisk because it locks up before it has finished loading. Also when it has booted finally the explorer displays, once you close the explorer window down its ok. And another thing of late the system halts with a blue screen displaying error something like.......... Symevnt.. system halted!
any info would be appreciated.

Symevnt are Dynamic Link Libraries and Virtual Device Drivers for Symmantec Event Library.
By default, SYMEVNT.DLL and SYMEVNT1.386 are placed in C:\Program Files\Symmantec and C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.

Use safe mode and delete your Symmantec application and reboot.

Make sure you completely remove NAV as it leaves traces scattered throughout your folders. Manually go through each folder in tree view in explorer to be certain.
I think from memory, Symmantic make a program to remove it completely.

Your memory is correct. The utility is called "Navclean" but it never worked for me.
