CDRW will not work Win 2000 PROF [Compaq; 550/ PIII; win2KPro]
I installed a new Lite- on 32X CDRW. It worked but would not burn any CDS with ROXIO or NERO. I read on about a link to check your ASPI. I followed it and downloaded the ASPI checker. It indicated mine needed updating. I down loaded the program and updated the ASPI. Dumb move I guess. The ASPI check says I am fine now, only problem is it will not even read a CD let alone burn one. My device manager properties for the LITE-ON says it is working properly and it gives me no options to turn anything off or on. Any CD inserted just sits a few seconds and ejects. Any help would be appreciated... FYI this is a year old Compaq but I have installed a new hardrive and have almost no programs on it, as I just installed the Windows 2000 PROF. It had a COMPAQ CD player in it which I removed and just plugged in the new drive. The old drive was set to slave so I set the new drive to slave. When I installed it, it recognized it right away and worked fine except I could not burn.
