CD ROM forensic testing of its' contents

What is a forensic test of a CD ROM? What does it entail?

Other than the files info. (ie. Excel files) that give the creator's name, creation date, and last modification date, what other information can be found on a burned CD?

Does any info regarding the computer used to burn the CD present on the CD. Is the CD traceable back to the creator?
