Convert/Edit Panasonic FZ100 1080i MTS to Apple AIC or HD MOV for FCE on Mac without Interlacing Issue

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ100 records videos in 1920×1080 full HD movie format. The Creative Movie mode with shutter speed makes it perfect to shoot fast-moving subject. When you connect FZ100 to iMac, the Apple computer does not recognize the Lumix AVCHD files. And when you try to import the FZ100 AVCHD movies to FCP,FCE, Final Cut may shut down immediately or pop up error message. So how can you backup the movies on Mac and edit AVCHD Lite on Mac Final Cut Express any time you want?
