Default problem partmgr.sys

hey guys,
having a bit of a problem with my lap top!
wanted to reinstall windows xp onto my lap top!
doing so i deleted my c: partition, and reinstalled windows xp, no problem there, everything was fine until i went to reinstall some of my backed up files.
my laptop crashed in the process. i now try to reinstall windows once more, (b/c when i start the comp it says no operating system)delete the partition, and it begins formatting. it then loads 3% very slowly and then after time it crashes showing a blue screen, error partmgr.sys, DRIVER_UNLOADED_WITHOUT_CANCELLING_PENDING _OPERATIONS.

ok im a little in over my head at the moment, it advises me to disable the BIOS memory option such as caching or shadowing, unfortunally iv no idea what these are. can anyone help me out in any way?
