I once tried the Nero MPEG plugin & it said it would take 65 hours on a 800mhz machine for a 1 hour video.

it once took me 48hrs to encode a movie...but once finished i discovered that the movie was full of errors...including sould loss. I think that this was just a bad avi file. Most of the others take me around 8 hrs on my 466mhz. OH YEAH!!! one more thing that would increase encode time like that is....blank space! I've had a movie that said it would take 100+hours to encode but the avi was 48hrs long. After the movie itself ended there was like 46hours of a blank, black screen. I suggest that you test avi's before wasting all that time converting.
