Question How to encrypt soft to work only with specific cd serial or label?

I am interestin in how to copy protect software on cd rom by encrypting files to work only with specific cd-r serial number ol volume label?

That means that if somebody copy this soft to a hdd that soft don't work.

Is it possible?

I could be wrong but it is possible to code software to lookup a cd serial & if you hard-code the cd serial into the software & make it check on load I don't see why it can't be done?

I would think the one reason m$ wouldn't do it as they don't want to re-compile their software for every cd they burn.

There is no effective copy protection available. You can make things more difficult but if someone knows what they are doing then there's no method around that can stop it.

The ordinary person dosnt know how to copy a protected cd, there are loads of programs that allow you to protect cd's. These cd's will not even appear in clonecd. But as said above if you know what you are doing then its easy to copy them
