I know xvid is just a codec but damn there are so many files using this now and I can't get none of them to work in Ulead (failed to covert video file). What is a good method of getting a file that requires the xvid codec to dvd-r ? Never got this with divx

Well depending on the settings used you can just change the fourCC code so that it decodes with DivX. XviD and DivX are both MPEG4 compliant so either should be able to decode each other. However XviD supports multiple bframes where as DivX does not also XviD has more advanced GMC.

Chances are though that if you downloaded it, then it wouldn't use bframes, qpel or any advanced features.

Hmmm, after all that I just did a test and it works fine. Did you actually follow my advice and update your XviD codec?? Or did I just waste a whole pile of my time?

They don't release binaries at XviD.org, so I don't know what you downloaded... I guess perhaps the source code??

So basically what you are saying is that you did not try my advice before starting this new thread and that you just wasted a whole pile of my time and about 50MB's of bandwidth?
