Default 54g Wireless card

sponsored links

Does anyone already use 54g wireless card? The reason I ask is because my bother and me have just got one each and was told that they will work over a long distance. The two houses are about 20-30 metres apart (plus two brick walls and a couple of trees) but the cards aren't seeing each other.

Card information: Belkin Wirless Desktop Network Card

Just bring the two computers in the same room first, and see if you can get a link, if you cant, then may be the card is faulty or they had been setup incorrectly.

If you can see each other in the same room, then the card just not powerful enough to transmit on that distance with the obsticles in between.

Dont rely on the manufactures quote of 100m indoor and 300m outdoor, these are measured in a clean room, we have installed in offices with 2 walls and distance of 10m where the link failed, but minus the walls, the range went up to almost 20m, you also have to take into consideration that there may be other equipment interfering with the signal such as coreless equipment.
