Default maximo ghost to glory. save points?

just got a backup, one of the best platformers ive played. but are there any savepoints or is it a waste of time...

What you have to do is after beating the 1st level you come to another stage with the castle in the middle. On this stage look for an octagon shaped pool of water walk up to it stand on the triangle and it will ask if you want to spend 100 coins to save, say yes then it will say return to game but you have to push left a memory card will then show up push square and then your game will be saved.
