Default How to Copy a Copy

sponsored links

So I figured out how to decrypt, compress, and burn dvd's and PS2 games. But what still perplexes me is that my computer wont recognize those discs after they are written! It seems really weird and i guess a small price to pay, but I hat not having "Perfect" copies and later might want to copy a copy.
I have a BenQ DVD+RW burner, and from what I understand Apple's have been unsuccessful at reading DVD+R media...
Anyone else having this problem, and more importantly, anyone find a way around it???

Adonis

MAcs can remount DVD+R media at least this is the problem I have run into with my sawtooth G4 using a sony dru 500+/-RW drive.

If you look at the reports in www.xlr8yourmac.com there are countless others with this same problem so that is wh yI only burn -R now.

I think its a firmware isse with the machine and I think the new G5 macs eventually are supposed to come with +/- superdrives so I think this problem will be solved

Yeah, I've been checkin' out other sites, and a lot of them say that Mac OS X 10.2.x doesn't support DVD+R but that Panther (10.3) should. But I've gotten dvd+r media to work when it's data, normally a desktop DB file will burn on the disk but be invisible. So some work and some do not depending on how you burn them, of coarse a standalone dvd player or PS2 wont read a dvd+r with a desktop databse file on it. I'm pretty sure it's a software issue. I don't think it's firmware because a PC can read the dvd+r media just fine. I did find a program called DVDPlusTool that lets some dvd drives recognize dvd+r, but my drive was not supported. who knows, maybe yours is.

Its not a software program issue since toast can burn +r disks
Its either apple dvd driver or mac firmware problem and again since you can create the dvd+r disks and read data disks I still say its a firmware problem

So you have been able to make a disk image of a data DVD+R?
When I say firmware issue I am talking about the mac firmware not the drive firmware.

My setup
G4 sawtooth with Sony 500 DRU DVD+/-RW drive
OS 10.2.5 and OS 9.1 on separate Hardrives
Toast 5.2

I could make working disks with no problem with dvd+r media but ps2 games would never read correctly or movies would never play inside my g4

I could read some data disks but I was never able to make a disk image of a movie or ps2 game that I recorded on a dvd+r so I couldnt recopy any of those disks until I gave them to a friend that has a pc with the same sony drive that I have

Read here
********forums.xlr8yourmac.com/drivedb/search.drivedb.lasso
do a search on all dvd+r and you can see report after report of not being able to make disk images of DVD+r disks using a DVD+/-RW and DVD+R drives

If you read the packages carefully they never talked about mac compatibilty

Panther might have a upgrade that might update your mac firmware

like I said

I think its a firmware isse with the machine and I think the new G5 macs eventually are supposed to come with +/- superdrives so I think this problem will be solved

With a firmware upgrade you can run it on a g4 also probably just fine too
We'll see truly what panther has to offer since it just came out
