Default could anyone tell me what firewall to get

im gettting broadband ntl very shortly and wondered if anyone who has this on ntl could suggest which

1. free firewall would be the best

and

2. a purchased firewall would be the best

i take it im at high risk if i dont use one. cheers

I had zone alarm pro, when i first got broadband, but you will need an antivirus program as well. The firewall wont stop everything

Zonealarm is probably the best software firewall, however, you may consider also getting a router which will give you firewall protection through a NAT translator.

Even if you get a router I would recommend using Zonealarm as well because this will give you protection against software phoning home without your knowledge, though it would rarely (if ever) have to stop an incoming attack.

You presume correctly that you are at high risk. Below is a listing of my logs from my router (for little over an hour), edited to protect the innocent (not that there would be many amongst this list)

im currently got antivirus 2004 and ill get that zonealarm program. that list is outrageous above!!
