Default PC Powers Settings/Monitor Problem

sponsored links

Looking at a PC for a friend of mine who's not been able to get a display since the monitor turned itself off after a set period of idle time as set wihin power settings within XP.

The PC was then turned off and not booted back up for around a day or two, he then gets the same problem PC switches on and power is going to the monitor but their is no display.

To eliminate some prolems i tested fresh monitor and graphics card but still get the same problem, has anybody else had a similar problem or know a solution before i begin to take the PC apart.

Thanks

So you've tried another monitor - can you go in in safe/VGA mode?

hi sounds like your motherboard is knackered
but try this and do it at the same time

put your finger over the monitor power button
and one over the pc power button
turn both things on together and see if its boots up right away.
for some reason i got a problem that is like yours
but this works for me.

allso might be worth checking to see if the ram is pushed in
do you get any beeps at all
normal 1 beeps means everything is good

could allso be a power supply fault not getting the right voltage to the card
