The MATRIX MXL2 has not.
At the moment believe it or not the best solution to playing
backups on the version 9/10 machines is the SLIDE CARD and SWAP MAGIC DISCS.
You dont void your machine and it doesent kill the machine either. [/B]
Well there has been no solid evidence of the DMS3 or messiah 2 destroying
US consoles (this has only been proven in the UK).

Also the magic V 5k6 works great in a version 10 and Magic V 5K works great in a version 9 in all the ones I have installed

AS far as slide card goes (its not my cup of tea)..........I say to each his own though, you go with what works best for you.

I agree with ps2daddy, for NTSC consoles, nothing beats the price and functionality of Magic 50k/5k6 on v9/v10 units.

Pal is a different story.

Would seem if the CLK is done properly though, Messiah 2 probs disappear. Magic looks like a good option also but it would cause me to determine whether I have a v9/v10. heh MXL2 also looks good. Now a PS2 installer would know better than me so .... for v9/v10, doesn't Messiah 2 have the easiest boot sequence for PS2 DVD-R? (until DMS3 gets sorted)

Dont get me wrong PS2daddy i not really into the slide card and swap magic discs myself.
But its just i dont want dead ps2's on my lap and when people want there ps2 done there and then i have no other solution and they seem happy to pay for it.
All the rest of the versions 4-8 i would install my favourite modchip the DUO.
I also prefer to give people the slide tool and smd3 for the version 3.

I don't think any of the modchips are at fault in the v9/v10s ..it seems that the coil resistance has been very low in the faulty machines and modded or not the ps2s would have died. More info here:

I tend to agree m8. After doing a lot of further reading lately, seems the LA/LB chips are overheating on the v9/v10 systems. From the few tests I've seen, thermal transfer pads/heatsinks have alleviated the problem a bit. Also, using media that doesn't unnecessarily strain the laser helps.
