Default what file system unix can see?

sponsored links

Dear all,
I am currently having 2 pc running win XP pro, and i am intresting in moving on Linux. But first i would like to be sure that if i network those two, linux and XP, i will be able to do the same things i do now, file/print/internet sharing mainly. i have tryed this b4 once, but my linux couldnt see the ntfs HD of the win. so i am thinking if the problem is ntfs and not win, what i mean is, if it cant see the ntfs HD but the fat32 for example.
Can you help me?
also, how hard is it for a linux newby to install a cross platform network?

thanks, Ilias
