Default Need help Directing NTL BB w/Wireless Router. Which one do I get?

sponsored links

Hello. I have just had NTL Broadband installed at home. I have a Cable Modem already. Want a WIRELESS ROUTER to get the connection from downstairs to upstairs. Planning to plug the modem into the router, then receive the connection upstairs into my PC with a PCI WiFi card.

Anyone fancy directing me towards the 2 appropriate products (Router and PCI card) on [URL=***********]eBuyer ?

Would be eternally greatful if ANYONE can do this for me.

I Found these 2.

Can anyone tell me if I'm barking up the right tree?

[URL=*********** duct_uid=52898]WiFi Card

Thank you.

They would be fine but you're better off getting a router and card that are .11b and .11g compatible. If you haven't got anything else on your network you can use the faster .11g. It's around 4-5 times faster than /11b but is also backwards compatible, so if someone wanted to access your network with an 11b card they could.

11g products aren't much cheaper than 11b now so it's worth spending the small amount more.

These are similar to those you've listed, but 11b/g.

There's more at Ebuyer (and once you decide on which you want it might be worth checking out a few other places, like Dabs).

The 11b is fine, but if you can afford the little extra you'll certainly appreciate the faster speed. Plus if in a few years you'll looking to be streaming video to your main telly from a central server you'll be struggling with 11b but not with g.

Hope this helps!
