Default 256 or 512mb ram?

I'm building a system to rip and burn some dvds and was wondering if 512mb ram has much advantage over 256mb ram on a 2000+ cpu, with win2k?

if you're only doing that then why spend more money on ram unless you're getting 512 for cheap.

more ram is always better. but just to rip movies, 256 will suffice.
