Default printer networking issue

sponsored links

I currently have two DELL GX260 desktop PCs in an office environment. At one point, they were sharing printers & files without any problems. PC1 contains a main program that PC2 networks off of and it still works fine. PC1 also has various Office documents that can easily be accessed by PC2 through shared folders on PC1. Finally, PC1 has its own printer directly connected to it & PC2 has its own printer directly connected to it as well. Both of these printers used to be able to be shared between PCs without any problems, but now I can't share them at all even though I've turned them each on as being able to "share". When I go into "Add Printer Wizard" and try to Browse for printers ont he network, all I'm getting on each PC is "Microsoft Windows Network" and no longer a list of available printers. Anybody know what is going on here or what happened? If so, how do I fix it?

Default

On both PC's got to Run\Command for a DOS screen. Type in

net stop spooler - wait for the service to stop (it may already be) then type

net start spooler

Printers should be back again.
