Default Program to prevent deletion of files?

sponsored links

I'm looking for a program I can use to prevent deletion of individual files, or all files from specific folders. I have around 150GB of music and my family and friends like using Cut&Paste instead of Copy&Paste and it drives me insane. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Easiest way is to make the file/s read only. Right-click, then properties, then check "Read only" and apply.

If you're using XP, you can password protect the folder, or set limits via Global Policy.

If you want a third party utility, Wincry and Axcrypt are both free.

Making the files Read Only still allows the file to be deleted. I don't want to password-protect the files, just to prevent them from being deleted. How do I do that?

As I said, if you have XP pro, you can set Global Policies.

Or you can set up user (Guest) accounts in XP which will prevent files from being deleted.

Easiest way is to use a third-party program as I suggested earlier.

Use a search engine for download locations. They are both free.
