Are there any benefits to backing up to DVD as opposed to CD-RW ?

I have lots of mp3 to backup and wonder what is the best option ??

Dvd data is better protected. The data is between 2 plastic discs. cd data will be lost as soon as the top of the cd is scratched. There is no protection on the top surface of the disc.
