Default Strange problem when transcribing audio

sponsored links

I am transcribing a trial that was digitally recorded and put on a DVD in .wma format in 9 files, all on one disc. I am using Express Scribe and an Infinity foot pedal. On one of the files, all of a sudden when I let off on the foot pedal and then tap on the play button again, I get audio from one of the other files. I can't get back to the file I was working on except to back up to a point before the problem and then as long as I'm holding the foot pedal play button, the right file is back, but I can't type as fast as they talk. If I take my foot off the play button to catch up on the typing, I'm back to the other file again, and again, I have to go all the way back to the beginning of the problem and start all over again. I used Sound Editor Deluxe to record the rest of the file (2 and a half hours), holding the foot pedal down to the end of the file. However, the sound is not very good, and there is a loud hissing background noise. I used Sound Editor to remove background noise, but it didn't help. I'm at my wit's end. Please, does anybody know what is going on and what I can do?
