Default PS2 Model Question

I just went to 3 stores and all I see are PS2 model numbers 3001R and the serials start off with 2xxxxxx.

Will the NEO4 chip work with the 3001R and were can I find the install instrutions.

those are probably all v5 or posssibly the new v6. messiah only if it's a pal v5 unit, otherwise there is no direct boot chip for them.
