Default TV OUT questions

sponsored links

OK here it goes, I have a few questions on tv out.
My plan is to get the complete series of Seinfeld, Simpsons, etc. I was wondering what the best way to get them to play on my tv is. These shows will be in DIVX form. Since no stand alone dvd player will play divx, I have a few options. 1) I could get a pc to tv converter. my only question here is, if I want to watch the video on my tv, then I would have to max the screen size on the movie. The one sample divx I have looks pretty fuzzy when maxed up to full screen. So I am gueing it will look abou the same on the tv. 2) I could buy a graphics card w/ tv out. I am not quite sure how this video out really works. 3) I could buy an mpeg card w/ video out, for example the hollywood plus card. My only question here is does the hollywood plus card support divx. Any answers will be greatly appreciated.

It's all the same thing, TV-out is TV-out, I don't go for hardware decoders, much easier and cheaper to use software, plus when a new Divx format is introduced (such as the new Divx5) there's no need to upgrade your hardware.

Your TV has a lower resolution than the PC monitor, the movies should be OK on the TV unless the files are low resolution or otherwise of a poor quality.

When choosing a TV out card make sure it outputs in the right format (PAL or NTSC) and has connectors that match your TV, otherwise you'll need some kind of converter.

the hollywood card will not play your divx files. it's meant for dvd play back, so u can play a dvd thourh your pc to tv. imho tv out sux. tv out cards look like crap, vga converter boxes look a bit better. i've heard hdtv's look pretty good, (but most can't afford them ). don't get me wrong, you should be fine watching ur tv shows through it, just don't expect to be surfing the net 2 much, the text will be really blurry and hard to read. kinda gives u a headache after awhile if ur browsing the web.

I run my MPEG/DIVX through my Gforce 2 card to my RCA jacks on my TV. I run the sound from my sound card into my stereo. I use TVtool and DVDgenie with WinDVD/powerDVD. It looks and sounds great!!!!!

I can force hardware acceleration, DTS, and tweak many other settings in both programs, although, in my opinion, WinDVD is much better, but no dice with the avi's on winDVD. You can also play all DVDs regardless of region. There are good number of other tweak, but I really haven't used them. It's freeware ***********.inmatrix.com/files/dvdgenie_download.shtml
