If you are talking about "plug in chips" meaning nosolder mods then the neokey will let you play games that are larger than 632mb which the nosolder mod can't.

no. there is no direct need for a neokey, but they do work great together. no solder mod allows you to play those dvd-r's with ease, and the neokey will let you play all those backups over 632mb.
if you have a v5 tho, get the acekey, it combines the features, costs half the price of getting those 2 mods, and requires only 1 point to be soldered.

And if you got a job for the summer, like me you probally have quite a bit to spend on a modchip. That's why i invested in a Magic 2... as i am tired of swapping when i want to play backups (All i own is backups) In the long run it's better because it direct boots everything, and saves u so much time and effort. If you dont wanna, that's cool but i find it a pain to swap and swap, especially with dvdrs.
