What Imean is how do I frame-serve in Virtual Dub...is it like using a lossless codec?

Didn't we already cover this?? Frameseving is like a lossless codec in away. It has some advantages and disadvantages though.

Frameserving is basically grabing each individual frame (when asked for) and serving it as a RAW frame. This means you get the quality of a RAW AVI without the massive file sizes. However there is CPU overhead to do this so it may not be as quick as encoding straight from a RAW AVI, esp. if it invloves colour space converting.

I said frameserve to Virtual Dub though, not frameserve in Virtual Dub. The idea was to get TMPGEnc to frame serve the WMV file to virtual dub as it is unable to open them itself.

Altough as I said earier, why not just convert your WMV directly in TMPGEnc to a DC compatible AVI, which I believe is what this whole thing is about??

I'd like to do that, it just seems like tmpec cuts it off after about 14 minutes...I'll try to figure this out. Thank you for all the help.
