try Win Prof XP: I have not experienced any problems. It is very stable. Using "Xp Tweak" further enhances system. I play video game (xp comes with latest version of Direct X) and use Adobe Photoshop frequently. Though I have 512 mb of RAM, it operates well with 128.

I have Windows ME and I quite like it except for the now and then "blue screen of death."

I have a 700MHz Machine with 392MB of RAM and a 20GB hard drive.

Should I upgrade to XP... I can't say I'm completly convinced after having 10 mins with it at my mate's house. Although the icons look perdy

This debate has been going on for sometime. Basically if you're a heavy gamer then stick with 98. If you don't mind putting up with some compatability issues and plan on doing a lot of editing go with xp. Or just get the best of both worlds and dual boot.

Yep, you are dead right m8. This debate has been going on for quite some time.

And as you also say, the answer is the same now as it was at the start. There is no "best" O/S, at the end of the day it's what suits you .

I have 3 systems and dual-boot 9X/XP on two of them for the reasons you gave above. But I think personaly I still prefer 2K over XP but I prefer the look of XP over 2K.

I'm closing this one now, as we have let it run for a long time, and there is only one way of finding out. And that is trying it out.
