how do i get the codec installed and encoded so i can burn this to a vcd, and play it on my dvd player? Thats the sum of my problems right there. Because It will still need to be encoded correct? and the codec is NOT installed according to gspot.

I am confused, you say you have DivX311alpha installed, but then you say you don't.

Are you running XP or 2k?? Because there is a problem that can occur where codecs do not install properly. The directshow filter will install fine, however the VFW codec will not, so although you can play a file you can not open it in Virtual Dub, TMPGEnc, etc.

If you have Virtual Dub installed check to see that DivX 3 low motion and high motion are listed as codecs.

I looked and i could not find it anywhere, do you know where it would be exactly on virtualdub? or if i cant find it it must not be installed.

Check Video-->Compression. It lists all available codecs there.
